Bringing HIPAA Standards to Social Services

As communities move toward various models of person-centered care, government offices, social services agencies and healthcare providers are all learning how to work together. One challenge to coordinated entry and cooperation is the issue of privacy. The need for uniform, HIPAA-style privacy standards is essential to get participation from healthcare providers charged with protecting patient privacy. This session will look at how all of these players are working together in Michigan, as well as the issues that have been raised in arriving at privacy standards that work for everyone.
